Call for student/junior faculty participation and application for scholarships
EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS 31st JULY 2016
AR101 (An Introduction to Augmented Reality) is a unique opportunity exclusive to Students and Junior Faculty in Mexico to learn from world experts about the exciting area that is Augmented Reality.
AR101 is part of the IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) 2016, the most prestigious academic venue for AR/MR and which will be held in Merida Yucatan, and that is being organised by Mexican researchers.
AR101 provides an opportunity to explore your research interests in this area through an interdisciplinary tutorial, under the guidance of Augmented Reality (AR)’s top researchers, our rockstARs.
AR101 will be held on Sunday 18th of September 2016, one day before the main ISMAR conference starts. Attendees will be able to interact closely with the rockstAR researchers. Furthermore, selected students will be given free registration to the ISMAR conference 19-23 September where they will be able to learn about the state of the art in this area. ISMAR will also offer a way to learn about PhD, internship and MSc opportunities to develop your career in this area.
Grants for AR101 and ISMAR’16
We aim to make a selection of students from all around Mexico and help to sponsor their travel, accommodation and entry to ISMAR. This financial support will be assigned to the best applications and on a limited number.
In case of securing financial support, accommodation will be selected by the organising committee, and the rooms will be shared in a double occupancy basis only by selected AR101 participants. The participants should pay all costs for their travel and seek reimbursement once the conference has finished and after confirmation that their attendance to ISMAR and AR101 was satisfactory. The trip should be timely planned in order to serve the best interests of the ISMAR organising committee at a reasonable cost: excessive costs are not acceptable and will not be reimbursed. Any travel expense should be supported with official receipts and documentation. Further details will be provided after selection.
Junior researchers/faculty (i.e. non-students) such as those that graduated from their BSc/MSc/PhD and are at a Mexican institution can apply for free entry to AR101 but there will be no financial support for travel or entry to the conference. This is because all our financial support will be directed to help students in the first instance.
